Their goal was to acquire quality equipment that would ensure animal welfare while maximizing the farm’s productivity and profitability in a climate-conscious, environmentally friendly manner.
To meet these last few requirements, they secured a grant under Quebec’s EcoPerformance program.
Project manager Simon Archambault from IEL Technologie Agricole recommended that they install ESA-3000 heat exchangers, which cut propane use by half—or even by 70% in some cases. In addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, these devices deliver exceptional air quality while controlling litter moisture.
The Saint-Pierre family also acquired ZIEHL-ABEGG fans with ECblue technology.
Since this ventilation solution requires fewer units and costs less to connect, the farm was able to save on electrical installation fees and electricity bills. ZIEHL-ABEGG fans can operate at variable speeds of 20% and under, compared to standard fans that overheat below 50%. Thanks to a magnet-excited motor and MODBUS network integration, they constantly supply the right airflow in cubic feet per minute (CFM) per bird. Now, the farm now houses 36,000 of these fans, which is a step up from its humble beginnings in 1989.
For its part, Quebec company IEL Technologie Agricole (Les Industries et Équipements Laliberté Ltée), located on Bégin Nord Street in Sainte-Claire, has stayed true to its original values since it was established in 1967.
It provides poultry and hog farms with complete, high-quality equipment solutions and specializes in meeting dairy farms’ ventilation needs. The company has earned continued trust not only for the quality and reliability of its products, but also for its outstanding customer service. IEL Technologie Agricole has a strong multidisciplinary team of about fifty people, who help customers carry out their projects and support them once the equipment is operational.
Through its various subsidiaries, IEL can also handle building construction from start to finish. It has 15 distributors in Quebec, 4 in Ontario and 2 in the Maritimes, in addition to 2 business partners in Western Canada.
